fire

There are two styles of my fire sculpture. One is the heater style. These use a very simple fuel system and are designed to be user friendly. The second is the performance style. These pieces have fairly complicated electrical and fuel systems and are designed to be able to be played like an instrument. Each performance piece has a control panel that controls every aspect of the pieces combustion/demeanor. Like other instruments I am teaching myself how to play these sculptures and continuously understanding its range and texture of voice. Likewise these pieces evolve two to three times a year to enhance the particular voice the piece has expressed to me and make it easier to play.

water

These pieces are of original design and use base materials of stainless steel and bronze. In my approach to water I try to simplify the organic form to compliment the presence of the water.

markmaking

Markmaking is a word I use to describe a very loose, subconsciously driven approach to manifesting on a 2-demensional surface. Some of my works incorporate techniques of traditional drawing and painting. However, I am inspired by my surroundings and may use objects or materials in my environment to express with that are non-traditional and repetedly experimental.

weaving

Theses pieces are the most freeform of my sculptural work and may use one material or several. Weaving for me is the closest interpretation of process to my approach to mark making.

glass

The glasswork that I have been doing of late is all sodium silicate hand blown pieces of my own design. I view glass as a very playful and sublime medium in the same way I view clay.

ceramics

This is the first 3 dimensional media I got my hands on, Legos aside. And, the first material that inspired insight toward the possibility of manifesting my imagination.

My illuminated works may incorporate a single or several materials and are lit from an internal source. These works are usually suspended.

jewelry

I like how small this work is without loosing its integrity or voice and I can make it without wearing boots.
